A Wirral man who stabbed his wife more than 500 times has received a life sentence for her murder.
Robert Bailey set upon his wife Elaine at their home on 11th September last year.
A jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard that her body was so badly mutilated that coroners had to identify her from dental records.
Bailey was taking medication for depression at the time and also working long shifts as a bus driver. He told the court that he could not remember much about the attack.
The court heard how he had used several knives during the attack and also a carving fork.
The Judge, Henry Globe said that Mrs Bailey would of been alive whilst many of the wounds were inflicted. He ordered Mr Bailey to serve a life sentence with a minimum term of 20 years imprisonment.
Mrs Bailey left behind 3 children.
